Another belly, for good measure. This one was a surprise so I hadn't brought any designs and it needed to be a quick one because the mama had to hit the road, giving me only 10 or 15 minutes to do an entire belly.
I am starting to miss the grind of spring and summer when the calls come in almost daily for henna. And me, I pack up my vintage round suitcase that I imagine some aristocratic lady once toted to visit her sister in Chicago, and I go visiting.
I sit in women's kitchens, around their pools, I go to their parties. I visit libraries and birthday parties for girls of all ages. I chat, they tell me stories, and I make them feel a little more beautiful than they did before I got there.
I revel in the fact that it is the absolute most stressless existence, to be surrounded by women, by their chatter and laughter, by the smell of the henna itself, by warm skin. To be able to create beauty and art.
I miss it. I am counting the days til spring.
